General
How are Metiri Tools instruments developed?
They are typically developed by Metiri Group consultants in direct
response to client needs or requests. Most often, we write surveys aligned
to national or state frameworks or standards that are customized for
a particular evaluation or consulting task.
Can I request a customized tool or survey?
Yes. Please send inquiries to Kirk Vandersall.
What are the technical requirements for using this site?
We recommend Netscape 4.0 or higher, and Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.
Cookies must be enabled. Some surveys require either QuickTime or Real
Player to view video survey items. Transcripts are provided for users
without video capability.
How much do you charge for using Metiri Tools?
For individual use there is no charge. You may create an account and
take surveys. For Group Projects or custom surveys, we charge a nominal
fee depending on the size and scope of the request. Contact Kirk Vandersall
for details.
Surveys
I haven't taken a survey. Why does Metiri Tools think I have?
If another Metiri Tools user has taken the survey on the same machine,
they may not be logged out. Try clicking on "logout" at the
top of the screen, and then log back in as yourself. If this does not
solve the problem, please contact Technical Support.
How do I view survey results?
After you take a survey, it will then show up under "completed
surveys" on the My Tools page. Click on it, and you will be shown
the results page. Results are not available immediately for all surveys.
For some surveys, we delay results according to the purpose and sensitivity
of the survey.
How do I get results for a group of respondents?
To get group results, you must be part of a Group Project. See details
below regarding establishing and administering Group Projects.
Log Ins and User Management
How do I edit my profile?
After you log in, select "Edit Profile" at the top of the
page. Update your profile, and click "Submit."
How does the "Remember Me" option work?
If you do NOT select "Remember Me," then after 30 minutes
of inactivity, you are automatically logged out of the system. If you
select "Remember Me" when you log in, the application writes
a cookie to your hard drive that maintains your status as "logged
in" until you choose to manually logout. This is convenient if
you are the only user of the computer, but do not select this option
if others may access the same site from your computer.
Do I have to log out?
If you do not log out manually, you will be logged out 30 minutes after
your last activity on the site. If you selected the "Remember Me"
option when you logged in, you will be logged in until you manually
log out. If you have selected the "Remember Me" option and
you want to have another person use the site, you should log out and
have the next person log in before continuing.
Group Projects
What is a Group Project?
A Group Project is an administrative mechanism that allows users to
be identified as belonging to the group, and uses each Group Project
Member's responses to a survey to calculate Group results. Each Group
Project has an Administrator who can assign surveys to the Group Project,
see who is a member of the group, add users to the group, and see who
has or has not taken surveys assigned to the group. For example, when
a Metiri Group school evaluation project requires survey research, we
establish a Group Project that includes each teacher or administrator
we seek to survey in the school. This allows us to see who has responded
to the surveys, and to treat the respondents as a group when analyzing
survey results.
Why do I need a Group Project?
You need a Group Project if you want to obtain aggregate results for
a group of survey respondents, track whether users other than yourself
have taken surveys, and assign specific surveys to a group of users.
How do I create a Group Project?
Decide who will be the Group Project Administrator, and have that person
apply to establish a Group Project by filling out this form.
How do I join a Group Project?
Your Group Project Administrator will supply you with the Group Project
ID and Group Project Password for your Project. Click on Join Group
Project on the My Tools page, and enter this information.
Why don't my survey results show up in our Group Project?
Check to make sure you are a member of the Group Project. In some cases,
you may have more than one user profiles in the system, one of which
is a member of the Group Project, while the other may not be. This most
typically happens when a user profile was created for you, and you either
already had a profile or subsequently created a user profile using a
different email address. If you think this may have happened, first
check with your Group Project Administrator. If the Group Project Administrator
is unable to resolve the issue, contact Technical Support.
What happens if I leave a Group Project?
If you choose to leave a Group Project, your survey results will remain
in the system, and you will still be able to see your individual results.
However, your results will no longer be included in the Group Project
results, and you will no longer be listed as a member.
Can Group Project Administrators view my individual results?
Unless explicitly stated at the beginning of a survey, Group Project
Administrators cannot view individual results. The only current Metiri
Tools where Administrators can view individual results are the Personal
Technology Planners, which are designed to be online portfolios shared
with a group.
Group Project Management
How do I set up a Group Project?
Decide who will be the Group Project Administrator, and have that person
apply to establish a Group Project by filling out this form.
How do I add users to a Group Project?
There are two ways to add users. 1) Give users the Group Project ID
and Password and ask them to join the Group Project by clicking on the
"Join Group Project" link. 2) contact Kirk Vandersall regarding
creating large blocks of new users, and adding large numbers of existing
users to a Group Project.
How can I tell who has taken a survey?
Group Project Administrators can view a list of Group Project Members
and which surveys they have completed by clicking on Group Management,
then selecting Manage My Group Projects, then clicking on "members"
in the Group Project of interest.
